Presentation of the laboratory / Version française
The Laboratoire Amiénois de Mathématiques Fondamentales et Appliquées (LAMFA) is a joint
laboratory between UPJV and CNRS. All the mathematicians of UPJV belong to LAMFA. LAMFA
is organized into thress research groups: Applied Analysis, Group Theory,
And Probability, Arithmetic and Dynamical Systems (PADique).
GROUP THEORY
The research topics are related to group representation theory (with a particular focus on algebraic groups on finite characteristic fields). The Group Theory research team has incresing activity around geomtric theory of representation group, group cohomology, and the equivalence between derived categories. Research on Coxeter groups, reductive groups, reflexions groups, generalized Artin-Tits braid groups remain the core of the activity, together with research on Kac-Moody groups and Algebra.
APPLIED ANALYSIS
The A3 group, beyond its traditional activity on Partal Differential Equations has developped an activity around Scientific Computing. For questions concerning PDEs, the research activity concerns qualitative and geometric properties of solutions to evolution PDE or elliptic PDE ( reaction-diffusion equations, free surface problems, supra-conductivity and Bose-Einstein condensates, asymptotic models for water waves). The Scientific Computing activity is also related to problems concerning control and numerics in inverse problems, wave propagation and domain decomposition methods in fluid mechanics. Some interactions exist with people in Robotics (concerning omnidriectional vision), in Physics (acoustics and fluid mechanics) and Mechanics (mesh free methods).
PADIQUE
The research group Porbability, Arithmetic, Dynamical Systems, beyond is core activity around dynamical systems and modelization of randomness, aim to develop a joint research program concerning p-adic dynamical systems with the group involved in Algebraic Group Theory. The other activities are related to integer-valued polynomials, dynamical systems, ergodic theory, fractal geometry (measure dimension, multifractal analysis), stochastic processes.

The categoricians
works on braided categories and coorganize the ``séminaire itinérant de catégories which meets three time each year at Amiens, Dunkerque and Paris 7.
